The Shouting Matches

Justin Vernon, the guy who gave the Grammy's the proverbial 'finger', and also the guy who heads up Bon Iver has now formed a new band called The Shouting Matches.

For those of you who are familiar with Bon Iver and more particularly Justin, knows that he is not keen on spotlight, and makes music for the inherent pleasure of well, making music. He doesn't seek out fame and fortune, but rather prefers his music to speak on his behalf. (I'm writing as if I know the guy, but this is my opinion, on my blog)

Now, as far as what I can understand from articles and news feeds,  I've been reading, Bon Iver until further notice, have paused all work and tours under this name.
While on a 'Bon Iver sabbatical', Justin and 2 of his friends started a side project/band, called the Shouting Matches. This band is too awesome.

Grownass Man, their debut album reminds me of old garage-rock, with hints of bluesy goodness. Justin drops his falsetto tone for a much deeper and natural tone. This album is far removed from the successful melodies of Bon Iver, and takes you on a journey of 70's rock. This genre of music is not new, and it is something we've all heard before, however Justin and his band mates really make it sound like your hearing it for the first time.

Really, so good!

They did their first gig at Coachella, have a look at part 1 of their full set here:
